MineArchiveCrossley & Son, Commondale
John Crossley of Stockton, a builder's merchant, bought the idle Commondale works in 1871 and ran it with his son Alfred as the Commondale Brick, Pipe and Pottery Company, later trading as Crossley and Son. It made art pottery from 1880 to 1884 and brick and pipe until 1947.
