Company of Mines Adventurers of England

The Company of Mines Adventurers of England was formed in the early 1700s by Sir Humphrey Mackworth to work the Esgair Hir lead and silver mine in Ceredigion, extracting around 2,000 tons of ore between 1703 and 1708 from ground celebrated as 'the Welsh Potosi'.
