Bayton Colliery Company
Formed in December 1914 by mining engineer Francis Whitworth Wright to develop coal reserves around Mamble and Bayton, building the 1912 aerial ropeway to Cleobury Mortimer station; a reconstituted company of the same name later opened Bayton No.6 (Mamble Colliery) in 1938, running it until the 1947 nationalisation of the coal industry.
