Arthur Burr

Promoter of the Kent coalfield who began sinking at Tilmanstone in 1906 through his Foncage Syndicate. The company went into receivership within a year of reaching coal, Burr was dismissed and later declared bankrupt, and a judge in the bankruptcy case called him 'a rogue'.
