Ardenrigg Coal Company

The coalmasters' firm of Plains, near Airdrie, founded by John Gardner and John Gemmell, incorporated as Ardenrigg Coal Co. Ltd in 1925 and largely owned by the Coltness Iron Company before nationalisation; it also ran Stepends pit and brickworks.
