Ansley Hall Colliery Company
Sank the colliery in 1874 under William Garside Philips of Oldbury Grange and held it until nationalisation. It bought Ansley Hall and its estate in the company’s name in 1892 to secure the minerals, ran a brickworks alongside the pit, and built the pithead baths on Coleshill Road in 1938. Garside Philips retired in 1921 and died in 1929, the management passing to his son J. H. Philips.
