Bought the Sirhowy and Ebbw Vale ironworks in 1844 after the failure of Harford, Davies and Co, expanding Sirhowy to nine blast furnaces by 1869; a later-generation figure (1804-1878), distinct from the historic Coalbrookdale ironmasters of the same name.
