Ultor Mining Complex
Fictional record. This page describes a mine from a fictional setting, not a real place. Information is based on the cited canon, with adaptations and interpretation distinguished where necessary. It is kept separate from the real MineArchive corpus — see Fictional.

Overview
The Ultor Corporation's mining colony on Mars, established to extract noachite after Earth's own mineral resources were exhausted by 2075. Workers recruited from Earth — including the game's protagonist, Parker, hired through Ultor's Chicago office — found not the promised better life but forced labour in ten-hour shifts spent sweating inside an envirosuit, cramped shared bunks, poor food, and abusive security guards. An unexplained illness, referred to by the miners only as 'the Plague', began killing workers with no cure offered by the corporation. The colony became the setting of the First Martian Revolution when a guard's brutal beating of a young miner escalated into a fight that killed both men, and the miner who intervened, Parker, was forced into hiding and open rebellion.
History
Ultor's Martian mining operation was still expanding as of 2075: recruitment offices on Earth, including one in Chicago where Parker enlisted, continued bringing workers to the colony even as conditions there deteriorated. Miners underwent compulsory annual medical checkups administered by Ultor; these later proved to be the source of the Plague, an unintended side effect of nanotechnology injections given during the checkups as part of research by the Ultor scientist Dr. Axel Capek, who had relocated to Mars specifically to continue work that faced 'regulatory oversight' on Earth. When the uprising began, Parker was aided by Hendrix, a defecting Ultor security technician, and by an unseen ally known as Eos who redirected his path through the colony's infrastructure — including the mine sections and their connected geothermal plants — toward Ultor's centres of power. Ultor responded by deploying its Mercenary Corps under Colonel Masako against the rebellion. The corporation's rule collapsed once Parker destroyed its key defences and Martian command structure, at which point he summoned the Earth Defense Force, which moved in to take control of Mars from what remained of Ultor.
Workings
The colony was organised around numbered mine sections — at least Sections 1 through 4 are referenced — connected by shafts, elevators and rail to a chain of geothermal power facilities (including Geothermal Facility No. 4) that supplied the whole operation with power. Surface infrastructure included smelters, ore hoppers and crushers processing noachite ore drawn up from the workings below.
Closure
Ultor's Martian administration and its military arm, the Mercenary Corps, were destroyed during the uprising once Parker disabled the colony's key defences; the corporation's control of the colony ended there.
What became of it
Control of the former Ultor colony passed to the Earth Defense Force at the close of the First Martian Revolution.
Recorded claims
Each claim is marked with its basis — explicit canon, MineArchive inference, adaptation only, or fandom interpretation — and attached to the source(s) below. Where tellings disagree, both are kept.
- Established to mine noachite after Earth's own natural resources had been depleted by 2075. (explicit canon)
- Miners worked roughly ten-hour shifts in envirosuits, shared bunks and envirosuits in shifts, ate poor food, and were subject to aggressive treatment from Ultor's security guards. (explicit canon)
- The disease known among the miners as the Plague was an unintended side effect of nanotechnology injections given during Ultor's compulsory annual medical checkups, arising from research carried out on Mars by Dr. Axel Capek. (explicit canon)
- The colony was organised into numbered mine sections (at least Sections 1-4 are named), linked to a chain of geothermal power facilities including Geothermal Facility No. 4, with surface smelters, ore hoppers and crushers processing the ore. (explicit canon)
- Ultor's Martian administration and Mercenary Corps were destroyed by Parker and the Red Faction rebellion; the Earth Defense Force then took control of Mars. (explicit canon)
