Cause
A fall of roof as the stall came on weight, as the men were about to replace a crushed centre leg of a bar.

Christopher Massey, aged 25, a collier, and Albert Pollard, aged 35, a deputy, were about to replace the centre leg of a bar that had been crushed through as the stall came on weight when a fall occurred and buried them.
