Cause
A large fall of roof came down while a main haulage road was being widened.
What happened
George Goynston (30), John Jennings (47) and William Poxton (30), all datallers, were killed by a heavy fall of roof as they enlarged a main haulage road. The colliery belonged to the Dalton Main Collieries.
