Cause
A side or top weight threw two bars out as the men drew timber to repair the main roadway, causing a large fall of roof.
What happened
Henry Holmes, aged 35, and Owen Holmes, aged 29, both datallers, were taking out timber to repair the main roadway in the Tupton coal when either a side or a top weight threw two bars out and brought down a large fall of roof that killed them both.
