On 18 December 1914 two men were killed together by a fall of roof at Bedwas Navigation Colliery, near Caerphilly in Monmouthshire.

Cause
A fall of roof that came down on both men at once.
What happened
Thomas Evans, aged 42, and William Griffiths, aged 41, died under the same fall of roof. The Welsh Coal Mines account records them plainly as two of the many killed at the colliery, and the 1914 fatality list carries Griffiths among the Bedwas dead of that December.
