Fuller's Earth

A calcium-rich montmorillonite clay, valued historically for 'fulling' — scouring the lanolin and oils out of raw wool — and later for its strong absorbent and decolourising properties, used in refining oils and fats, as a bonding agent, and in drilling muds and cat litter.
