Mines in herm

Herm, a small car-free island about 1½ miles long off the east coast of Guernsey, is part of the parish of St Peter Port in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and a Crown Dependency rather than part of the United Kingdom. In the 19th century most of its people were quarrymen in its granite quarries, and a short-lived silver, lead and copper mining venture was tried there in 1837-38.
