The Williams family
The family that owned Dorothea from 1853 until it closed in 1970, and under whom it became the largest quarry in the Nantlle valley — peak output of 17,442 tons in 1872, over 350 men still employed in the 1930s, and the investment in 1905 that brought a Cornish beam engine to Caernarfonshire.
