William Thomas of Waun Wyllt

Son of Robert and Lucy Thomas of Waun Wyllt, Abercanaid, and of Abercanaid, Merthyr. He leased the Lletyshenkin farm estate from Edward Morgan in about 1843 and sank Lletty Shenkin Colliery on it, holding the colliery at the time of the 1849 explosion, after which he paid for the dead men's coffins and supported their families.
