MineArchiveSt Andrews Coal and Iron Company
The company that opened the Pitcorthie workings in early 1866 and first worked the ironstone there, calcining it on the ground and shipping it out through Anstruther. Its partners Robert Moyes and John Millar were declared bankrupt in 1868. Its clerk gave evidence at Cupar Sheriff Court in January 1868 that the works then comprised two mines four or five hundred yards apart.
