Roscow and Ward
The firm working Stonehill Colliery at Farnworth at the time of the 1877 fire, named in this form by the Liverpool Journal of 27 January 1877. Later mining-history summaries give the firm as Roscoe and Lord and record that the colliery was known as the Dow Mine before it came into their hands; which form is correct has not been settled from the sources reached.
