Richard Thomas and Baldwins Ltd

Formed by the 1945 merger of Richard Thomas and Company with Baldwins Ltd, and one of the major British steel producers of the mid-20th century — nationalised in 1951, returned to private hands, then taken back into public ownership as part of British Steel in 1967. It ran Irthlingborough to the end, and it is its plan of the Northampton Sands ironstone mine that survives in the national mine-plans catalogue.
