Newdigate Colliery (1914) Limited
The company formed in 1914 to take Newdigate Colliery off the hands of the Newdigate family, who by then regarded the fire-plagued pit as a liability. It made the colliery profitable by working only the top section of the Warwickshire Thick Coal from the 1920s, and held it until nationalisation in 1947.
