Merrybent and Middleton Tyas Mining and Smelting Company

The company that developed the Merrybent copper workings from about 1856, sank the Engine Shaft in 1866 and promoted the Merrybent and Darlington Railway of 1866–70 to carry limestone from Barton Quarry; wound up by Act of Parliament in 1878.
