Edward and Jonathan Kendall
Ironmasters who took a 99-year lease at the head of the Ebbw valley in 1779 and built the Beaufort works on it. The village that grew up around the works was named Cendl after them — a Welsh rendering of Kendall — and still carries that name in Welsh.
