A Wigan coal-mining firm that took a lease of the Nantyglo and Blaina Company's Blaina-area coal in March 1878; incorporated as J. Lancaster & Co. Ltd by 1890, remaining the pit's nominal owner (with C.W. Ellis briefly named as owner in 1895) through to its 1893 closure.
