Ironmasters of the Clyde Iron Works at Tollcross, Glasgow, returned as owners of Hallside and Newton collieries at Cambuslang from 1873 and trading as a limited company by 1896. They housed their miners in 356 houses at Newton, and worked other pits at Tollcross, Carmyle and Airdrie.
