Grimebridge Colliery Co. Ltd

A Rossendale private mining company formed out of the partnership of William 'Billy' Clayton and Rodney Mitchall, who reopened the closed Grimebridge Colliery in 1978 and worked it until 1996. In 1997 the company took the licence for Hill Top Colliery at Sharneyford and drove two new drifts there, working it until 2014 — the last coal mine operating in Lancashire.
