Craigtown Mining Company

The Craigtown Mining Company was formed in 1764 to work the newly discovered Blackcraig lead deposit in Dumfries and Galloway, opening the East and West Blackcraig mines and a shot mill at Creetown; financial losses forced closure in the 1790s, though the site saw brief later revivals.
