Cilgwyn Quarry Company
Formed in 1800 by the Caernarfon solicitor John Evans to develop Cilgwyn Quarry commercially. Evans's 1816 dam and watercourse works at the quarry became the subject of a legal dispute that went on to influence UK land enclosure law. The company (under various managements and reorganisations over the following century and a half) remained the quarry's operator until finally ceasing trading in 1956.
