MineArchiveBourne and Robinson
The St Helens colliery company founded in 1824 by the brothers John, James and Peter Bourne with Robert Robinson. It leased minerals from the Hughes family of Sherdley Hall from 1826 and established Sherdley Colliery in 1872 or 1873; the family sold up after five Bournes died between 1876 and 1883.
